Mr. Ernst Horstman of Chicago called on friends here during the past week.

Mrs. Leonard entertained a number of her friends at a dinner last Tuesday.

The public school closed Friday for a week’s vacation.

The Juvenile Missionary Society held its regular monthly meeting in the Evangelical Church last Sunday afternoon.

Mr. G. Lageschulte made a business trip to Waukegan last Tuesday.

Mr. John Crossman, who has been visiting with his father in the East the past few months, has returned, and was the guest of his sister, Mrs. C. Senne of this place a few days this week.

Bailiff Scharringhausen subpoenaed fourteen witnesses to appear in the John Thompson trial, which was set for Tuesday last.  The case was postponed as before, much to the disgust of the witnesses, who are getting tired of being called into court and paying their own car fare.

A caucus for the nomination of village officers has been called to meet at the Village Hall on Friday evening of this week, but as the Owl Club meets there the same evening, the nominations will probably have to be made in the board room while the Owls are roosting in the upper story.
